James Murdoch could be recalled by hacking inquiry MPs after evidence of ‘cover-up’ emerges – Telegraph
Another News International title, The Times, disciplined one of its reporters in 2009 after he hacked the emails of an internet blogger, as its editor James Harding admitted to the Leveson Inquiry this week.
Mr Watson said: “Computer hacking is the chink in the armour here. Both Rupert and James Murdoch brushed over questions about computer hacking [when they appeared before the select committee].
“What I would like to know is, when did they know about computer hacking at The Times? Did they know about it in advance of giving evidence to the committee?”
When Rupert Murdoch gave evidence to MPs last July, he denied any knowledge of computer hacking by News International newspapers.
In November James Murdoch, who was recalled before the committee having earlier appeared alongside his father, said in answer to a question from Mr Watson: “I am not aware of any of the computer hacking that you have talked about in the past.”
